After his graduation from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1989 - Edward belongs to the famous generation of Dutch designers who have been causing international sensation for many years now- he started in 1991 primarily to design patterns and product designs. With his own design Studio, Edward van Vliet now works on various projects in the areas of product, textile and interior design for both national and international clients. He focuses primarily on the hospitality industry, offices, private homes and public spaces.
Edward van Vliet translates his vision, creativity and years of experience into unique (interior) concepts in which he combines three-dimensional lighting and furniture designs with two-dimensional patterns, prints and graphics featuring layering, textiles and colours. Edward makes his designs powerful and surprising by applying contrasting materials and different patterns. Edward’s designs are easily recognizable by a mix of influences from traditional Western design, high-tech elements and natural materials finished to the latest production techniques. This particular mix of quality workmanship combined with influences form cultures of the Middle East, Africa and Asia inspired elements are the bases of the uniqueness of his designs, creating worlds within worlds.
Edward Van Vliet's interiors and products are luxurious, exclusive, they are full of character and they create a very pleasant atmosphere which is immediately perceived in the reception areas, foyers and bars of the hotels he designs.
