Bernhard Dessecker was born in Munich in 1961. After finishing his studies of interior architecture in Munich in 1983, he worked one year in New York City with the "Studio Morsa for architecture and design". In 1984 he returned to Munich where he started to work with Ingo Maurer as a freelance designer; this collaboration goes on until today. He developed many light fixtures and projects with Ingo Maurer and his team. Since 1997 he is teaching, holding lectures and workshops in many countries. From 20005 till 2007 he was working secretly on a book on Ingo Maurer as a surprise present for his 75th birthday, which was later published.
