For the 2014 exhibition "Tim Burton and His World" Studio Olgoj Chorchoj designer duo Michal Fronek and Jan Nemecek, in cooperation with BOMMA, designed large crystal domes under which the director's little movie creatures were exhibited.
This unique experience inspired the designers to create a lighting series, in homage to Tim Burton, based on the large flame cut globes, requiring the highest level of BOMMA's glassmaker's skills and strength combined with the purity and clarity of their crystal.
Each large droplet shaped glass element is mouth-blown and made by hand which makes each piece completely unique and unrepeatable.
When a centenary old local glass factory shut its doors in Svetla in the Czech Republic, entrepreneur Jiri Trtik decided to hire the skilled craftsmen and engineers who were suddenly left without a job and to build his own glassworks.
Hence, Bomma, one of Europe's most modern glass manufactory, opened its doors in June 2012. From the onset the focus has been on artisan craftsmanship, contemporary design and innovative technology (the company builds their own cutting machines and tools). The workshop combines delicate hand-blown glass in small to oversize dimensions with automatic precise cutting and produces some of the clearest crystal in Bohemia.
