For his lighting creations young designer Christian Lava likes to exploit the physical characteristics of the materials used to envelop a room in a unique, immersive light.

Here, with Stream, over seven kilometres of metal chain appear to flow down from the undulating metallic frame.

While this stunning design makes for an impressive presence, the cascading tiers project a streaking, yet tranquil, shadow throughout the room.

Christian Lava is known for being a creative and innovative designer, who creates stunning lighting sculptures, so fluid and elegant yet technically brilliant. His designs exploit the physical characteristics of the materials used to envelop a room in a unique, immersive light and transform them into a work of art. He designs for Italian specialist lighting manufacturer Terzani.

Terzani

Since its founding in Florence, Italy in 1972, Terzani S.R.L. has worked to meld traditional Italian craftsmanship with modern technology to create lighting that blurs the lines between art, luxury and design.

Founder Sergio Terzani, and CEO Nicolas Terzani, have furthered their experimentation in lighting design with the creation of the Terzani Lab, where new materials, techniques and ideas can be developed and tested.

Terzani continues to commission designs from renowned artists including Bruno Rainaldi, Christian Lava and Dodo Arlsan and from young talent, each adding their unique voices and contributing to Terzani’s extensive collection.
