"The aim of the In The Wind project was to create an object feasible only by applying LED technology. The result is a shape merely consisting of three lines of light - a real challenge. Aesthetically speaking, we needed to find a harmonious balance of the three lines. And from the technical point of view we needed to find a process to curve, entwine and fix the three square section metal profiles." - Arihiro Miyake

In the Wind is an evocative object rich in aesthetic and technological content. Its very name conveys the essence of versatile expressiveness. On the one hand it represents dynamism, the swirling impetuous movement of currents, creating an object which is always different from itself. On the other it expresses the poetry of an invisible element, caressing yet impalpable.

The creation of this product required the development of specific manufacturing processes and the use of latest-generation ultra-bright LEDs.

Arihiro Miyake was born in Japan in 1975, studied industrial design at Kobe Design University and then moved to Finland to complete his Masters in furniture and spatial design at Aalto University.

He started his professional career working in interior design and established his own Studio Arihiro Miyake in 2004.

Covering multiple fields including interiors, products, lighting and research, the studio has worked with a number of high-end international clients.

Miyake’s unique approach to design has led to his products being included in the permanent collection at the Design Museum Helsinki.
