Created by Ron Arad, Do-Lo-Rez is an unusual project that brings the virtual world closer to the real world. Its name comes from the expression “do low resolution”. The idea came to him after seeing a pixelated image in low resolution, which has materialized into a three-dimensional surface.

The rug is created by making each square a different height from the ones beside it. On the other hand, its extraordinary format involves multiple vertices that seem like the final pieces of an unfinished puzzle. This game of volume and levels gives free rein to customization.

Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, educated at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and later at the Architectural Association in London, Ron Arad co-founded the design and production studio One Off in 1981 and later, in 1989, the Ron Arad Associates architecture and design practice.
From 1994 to 1999 he established the Ron Arad Studio, design and production unit in Como, Italy. He was Professor of Design Product at the Royal College of Art in London up until 2009, was awarded the 2011 London Design Week Medal for design excellence and became a Royal Academician of the Royal Academy of Arts in 2013.
Ron Arad's constant experimentation with the possibilities of materials such as steel, aluminium or polyamide and his radical re-conception of the form and structure of furniture has put him at the forefront of contemporary design and architecture.
Alongside his limited edition studio work, Arad designs for many leading international companies including Moroso, Fiam, Driade, Cassina, Kartell and Vitra among many others.
Ron Arad is honorary professor at the "Hochschule" in Vienna, honorary curator of the International Design Yearbook and alongside his architectural projects has designed a number of public art pieces.
His works are included internationally in the most prestigious public collections.

Nanimarquina

The history of nanimarquina is based on a very clear idea: wanting to design rugs. It’s a simple statement, a transparent declaration of intent that has become a reality by putting into practice values such as observation, innovative endeavour, communication, emotion and knowing how to contemporise traditional craftsmanship.

Since its origins in 1987, nanimarquina has been designing rugs and other textile products, paying particular attention to research on raw materials and production processes. These factors enrich the aesthetic aspect of the products, which are the true stars that give the brand its visibility and commercial success.

Today nanimarquina is one of the leading rug manufacturing firms, exporting 60% of its production. With the second generation now forming part of the management, the company continues to make, live and offer design. It continues to make the principle on which it was founded a reality: to reinvent the rug, giving it new uses, new concepts and playing with elements such as shape, colour and texture.
