"The modelling method of rapid prototyping served as the starting point for this design. At the time, I was reading a book about Paul Klee in which he said that when he was drawing, it was like taking the line for a walk. This expression gave me the final theme: to design a lightweight structure for a lounge chair with enormous wings. The upholstered version of this came a year later. To be able to sit in it without being concerned about one's shoes was a small detail in this autonomous structure." - Alfredo Häberli

Alfredo Häberli brings out the communication abilities of the object and the emotional bond which it can create: the chair draws on an archaic yet extremely modern visual force which recalls the idea of a cocooning, motherly comfort, with the big ears which can be wrapped around the head in search of protection or isolation from the surrounding environment.

Alfredo Häberli was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1964. He moved to Switzerland in 1977 and graduated in 1991 with distinction in Industrial Design.

His broad interest in design is neither formal nor fashionable; Häberli focuses on simply discovering new ways of looking at everyday situations. His products combine invention and beauty, and reflect his determination to have the soul of an object always show through.

Häberli manages to unite tradition with innovation, joy and energy in his designs. His work is strongly influenced by his early childhood in Argentina as well as his curiousness and studies in everyday life. The results are works with a strong expression and emotionality.

Häberli's work and designs have been shown in numerous exhibitions throughout Europe and he has received many awards for his work during the past years. With his own retrospective exhibition "SurroundThings" in 2008 at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, for which he was responsible for numerous exhibitions since 1988, a personal dream came true. Recently he was awarded by A&W magazine (Architektur & Wohnen) as the "Designer of the Year 2009" and honoured with a monograph exhibition on the occasion of the international furniture fair - Imm cologne.

Moroso was founded in 1952 by Agostino and Diana Moroso. In many respects, the current status of innovative and fashionable style of the Moroso company has been achieved thanks to the efforts of their daughter, Patrizia Moroso.

Before becoming creative director, Patrizia studied at art school in Bologna. However, in the late 70's, at the insistence of her parents, she decided to join the family business.  Her artistic background immediately proved to be invaluable. To develop new projects, she involved not only well-known designers - such as Ron Arad, Enrico Franzolini, Marc Newson, and Patricia Urquiola to name but a few - but also young and talented designers.

At present, the company is working with 34 designers from 22 countries.

In the 90's, Moroso was the first furniture manufacturer to be awarded top ISO quality certificates and more recently, in view of the close connection between quality and impact on the environment, Moroso has decided to use "clean", non-polluting production processes, and materials that are natural or as recyclable as possible.

Feedback, design, global quality, respect for the environment: all these words are not empty rhetoric for Moroso but big and little marks of attention that are associated with every single moment of the company´s work.
