Moroso has collaborated with designer Patricia Urquiola on a new collection of tables called Fishbone, featuring playful herringbone motives.

The malleable palette of the cast acrylic composition has given Urquiola the freedom to create patterns that imitate natural materials such as mother-of-pearl, marble and tortoise shell.

The original combinations play on the apparently random juxtaposition of natural patterns in pastel shades, including horn, mustard enamel, military colours, petrol blue, sand, right through to masculine interpretations of fabrics such as tweed and solid colours such as airplane blue, burgundy and ice.

Super-glossy finishes to match the designer's multifaceted creativity in all three of the versions presented, one with touches of yellow, one with hues from green to pale blue, and the third a mix of strawberry, toffee, cocoa and dove grey.

Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain and now lives and works in Milan.

She attended the faculty of architecture of the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan, Polytechnic graduating with Achille Castiglioni.

She collaborated with Achille Castiglioni, Vico Magistretti and Piero Lissoni before opening her own studio in Milan in 2001 working on product design, architecture, interiors, installations and concept creation.

She has been selected and has won various prizes among others the International Design Yearbook, IMM Cologne, Good Design Awards of the Chicago Athenaeum, Red Dot Award, Elle Decoration International Awards. She has been nominated designer of the year for Elle Decoration International Design Awards, Wallpaper magazine, AD Spain, Maison & Object Paris, A&W Germany, Interior Design Hall of Fame. She has received from the Spanish Government and the King of Spain the Gold Medal of Fine Arts and the Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. Her products are present in the permanent collection of various museums among others MoMA NY and Triennale Milano.

Moroso was founded in 1952 by Agostino and Diana Moroso. In many respects, the current status of innovative and fashionable style of the Moroso company has been achieved thanks to the efforts of their daughter, Patrizia Moroso.

Before becoming creative director, Patrizia studied at art school in Bologna. However, in the late 70's, at the insistence of her parents, she decided to join the family business.  Her artistic background immediately proved to be invaluable. To develop new projects, she involved not only well-known designers - such as Ron Arad, Enrico Franzolini, Marc Newson, and Patricia Urquiola to name but a few - but also young and talented designers.

At present, the company is working with 34 designers from 22 countries.

In the 90's, Moroso was the first furniture manufacturer to be awarded top ISO quality certificates and more recently, in view of the close connection between quality and impact on the environment, Moroso has decided to use "clean", non-polluting production processes, and materials that are natural or as recyclable as possible.

Feedback, design, global quality, respect for the environment: all these words are not empty rhetoric for Moroso but big and little marks of attention that are associated with every single moment of the company´s work.
