FIAM designs, develops and produces items of furniture in glass, creating them through a combination of craftsmanship and industrial processes, actually merging tradition and innovation, hand-crafting and design.

For this extraordinary "Long long table" collection by the Dante O. Benini & Partners architects' studio, the designers have revisited classic furniture pieces and transcended them simply by using exquisitely finished thick transparent glass with sleek stainless steel elements.

Dante Oscar Benini, a pupil of Scarpa and Niemeyer, has designed and built all over the world and has collaborated on projects with Frank O. Ghery, Richard Meier, Arup and Daniel Libeskind.

He is registered with the Board of Architects of Rome and is member if the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and the ARB (Architects Registration Board) in Great Britain and of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) in the USA.

In 1997 he founded "Dante O. Benini & Partners Architects" which he directs as Lead Partner and Chairman together with Luca Gonzo, Senior Partner and Managing Director.

With offices in Milan, London and Istanbul the Studio has several departments in the field of architectural design, urban planning, interior architecture, design and nautical design, with a staff of about 60 people, designing projects for entire urban neighbourhoods and offices for large companies, industrial laboratories and shopping centres, as well as exclusive clubs, homes, yachts and designer objects the world over.
Each project is conceived on the basis of technical, economic and environmental sustainability and proposes quality Architecture based on the attention to detail.

The studio has received a number of awards and special mentions (most recently the Chicago Athenaeum 2011 Good Design Award); it has won and classified in international contests and holds seminars in Italy and abroad.

FIAM, founded by Vittorio Livi in 1973, designs, develops and produces items of furniture in curved glass, creating them through a combination of craftsmanship and industrial processes, effectively merging tradition and innovation, hand-crafting and design.

Vittorio Livi came to know and appreciate glass from a very young age. Solid and fragile, natural and artificial, ancient and industrial all at the same time, glass is a mass of seeming contradictions, and Livi loved it for just that, as well as for its practical qualities. Glass is environmentally friendly and hygienic: it may look simple, because of its transparency, but both its chemistry and physics are in fact very complex. And this material of vast potential was virtually only used for the production of small accessories or ornaments in the world of furniture.

And so in the young Vittorio Livi’s creative mind, a dream began to take shape: glass would become a unique star in the world of fine design, being used to produce items of furniture which would be astonishingly solid yet beautifully transparent; design items which would rise above the age of their production, untouched by the passing years, spaces and fashions.
